An arrest warrant issued for two well-known Shia figures, cleric sayed Mohammad Bager Al-Nasser and Abdullah Saleh Al-Muhanna, by the Saudi authorities over their resistance to preform prayers in congregations in the city of Al-Khobar.
According to reliable human right sources, Sayed Al-Nasser and Al-Muhanna were both told about the issuance of arrest warrants few days ago.
The Saudi authorities had so far closed four mosques in the Shia neighborhoods in the city of Al-Khobar in the last two years, following the orders of the Minister of Interior Prince Nayef bin Abdul Al-Aziz to restrict Saudi Shias from establishing Shia mosques and cemeteries outside their historical regions such as Najran, Al-Ahsa, and Al-Qatif.
No specific dates were revealed to process the arrest warrants for Sayed Al-Nasser and Al-Muhanna, who both overseas the most prominent Shia chapels in the Al-Khobar city.
Last year, Al-Muhanna was sent to prison for more than five weeks under the pretext of preforming prayers in congregations at a chapel in his house.
Sayed Al-Nasser said in an oration on the occasions of the birth of Imam Al-Hassan in the middle of Ramadan that there are some parties that deliberately lie to the officials to incite hatred among their chests against the Shia.
Everyone knows that Shias in Saudi Arabia are the most loyal to their country, calling in the same context to always communicate with officials to remove all the lies and show the truth, he said.
He went on saying that we should keep this issue (Shia mosques) in its usual frame, as a civil right case. He also indicated that keeping the contacts with the officials will help removing all the fabricated lies made by those misguided people.
